Future Employees
The City of Wauwatosa currently offers two Health insurance plans to its employees, both under United Healthcare. Choice Plus allows employees to see providers that are out of network. In the Choice Plan, employees must utilize physicians in the plan. The city pays the monthly cost of health insurance; employees pay fixed cost sharing, annual deductibles, co-pays, out of pocket and prescription drug costs. Represented employees in the Police and Fire may only select the Choice Plus plan.
Vision insurance is offered as part of the health insurance package, but is with a separate carrier, Vision Insurance Plan of America.
The City offers 2 dental plans: Humana dental, where the employee can go to the dentist of their choice and Care Plus in which the employee must designate a clinic for all procedures. The employee pays for a portion of their dental insurance.
The City pays both the employer and employee portions of the pension which is through the Wisconsin Retirement System. The City also pays the cost of life insurance for the employee. Employees earning wages over $50,000 will pay a small portion towards coverage.
Employees receive vacation, floating holidays, federal holidays and sick day allotments based on their years of service and their represented group. Vacation and floating holidays are generally pro-rated in the initial year of hire.
Employees may request educational reimbursement for college courses that are job related and have received approval from the employees' supervisor and the City Administrator. The amount of reimbursement varies depending on the employee's represented group.
The City participates in an Employee Assistance Program. Employees and their family members may use the services.
Employees may participate in a Flexible Spending program in which they can set aside up to $5,000 pre-tax money for medical and dental expenses not covered under the insurance plans and for dependent care expenses.
