Responsibilities for Immunization and Communicable Disease
The Wauwatosa Health Department has the statutory responsibility to provide:
- Surveillance, investigation, control, and prevention of communicable diseases
- Other disease prevention
- Health promotion
- Public health nursing
- Human health hazard control within the City of Wauwatosa boundaries
These responsibilities are given in
Wisconsin State Statute HFS 140. Additionally, the Health Department shall promptly take all measures necessary to prevent, suppress, and control communicable diseases as per
Wisconsin Statute Chapter 252.03(1).
