The professional nurse on call can:

• Provide information on health department programs and community resources
• Conduct a confidential health consultation
• Provide current information on immunization requirements and needs
• Educate about communicable disease and prevention
• Follow up on statutory reporting of communicable diseases
• Answer health-related questions
• Send out available literature or health packets
• Discuss potential public health concerns and generate a referral when appropriate
