The City of Wauwatosa is the recipient of grants from the U.S Environmental Protection Agency's Brownfield Assessment Grant Program.
To date, the City has received four EPA Brownfield Assessment Grants totaling $800,000: two Hazardous Substances Assessment Grants ($200,000 each) and two Petroleum Assessment Grants ($200,000 each).
The goal of these assessment grants is to understand the nature of contamination at brownfield sites in Wauwatosa to facilitate their cleanup and redevelopment. As funding is limited, the City can assist property owners with assessment activities for committed redevelopment projects.
