Construction on Center Street (65th - 76th)
Traffic is available in both directions, but give yourself a few extra minutes
Starting the week of August 13, we will be working on portions of Center Street from 65th to 76th Street.
We will be completing the following work on portions of Center Street:
- repairing sanitary and storm sewers
- improving utilities
- relining sewers
- replacing a water main (between 68th and 70th Street)
- replacing lighting
- reconstructing curb ramps
- repairing the street
During this project, traffic lanes will be shifted to the north side of the street as the construction crew works on the south side of the street. There will still be traffic in both directions, but we suggest giving yourself a few extra minutes if you commute in this area. There will be no parking on this stretch of Center Street for the duration of the project.
Also know that this project occurs during leaf collection season. If you are in a residence in this area, we will send you a letter with instructions on where to place leaves. Most likely, we will ask residents to rake their leaves to the side street instead of Center Street.
The City of Wauwatosa's part in this project is anticipated to be completed by October 19, weather-dependent. However, immediately following our work, the City of Milwaukee's paving contractor will begin the joint resurfacing of Center Street. The City of Milwaukee has stated that paving may take place this year before Thanksgiving or next year, weather-dependent.
