WWI Memorial in Root Common Park

Post Date:09/27/2018 11:24 AM

Root Common Park/Pocket Park
We have several smaller items being completed over the next two weeks:

  • Our contractor is working on the performance stage space within Root Common Park.
  • Starting next week the electrical contractor will be installing illuminated handrails within Pocket Park.
  • You’ll also see crews in the street putting down the final pavement markings on Wauwatosa, Harwood, Underwood, and Harmonee.

Another exciting phase of this area is the dedicated World War I memorial space that includes benches, natural landscaping, and a plaque honoring Wauwatosa veterans. You’ll notice a crew in this small grassy area adjacent to the parking lot starting next week as they prep the area for construction. Join us on Veterans Day (November 11) for a ribbon cutting of the WWI Memorial space. More details to come.

State Street between 68th and 72nd
Sidewalk work continues on the north side. You’ll also notice that we’ve started laying down top soil in preparation for tree planting trees, and finishing the street’s curb at intersections.

Hart Park Lane work continues for several weeks. We’re slipping the curb and constructing concrete sidewalks, and you’ll see work on the tennis court and volleyball lighting light poles as well. The fence separating the parking and sport areas from the railroad will start next week. We anticipate asphalt coming in mid-October for Hart Park Lane.

Thank you for your continued patience. We enjoy sharing progress on this project with you.
