Changes to Allowable Hours of Commercial Refuse Collection
In order to reduce noise in the early morning, the Common Council adopted a new ordinance in August stating that commercial refuse companies may not collect refuse in areas within 200 feet of residential zones between the hours of 9 pm - 7 am. These changes will go into effect on September 8.
We recommend business owners and operators contact their collection company to make sure they are aware of the changes. Individuals found violating the ordinance, either of the collection company or the business contracting with them, will be given a warning, and any subsequent violations within 12 months of the warning will warrant a citation for either or both parties.
