Announcing Wauwatosa Distinguished Citizen of 2018
Meet the awardee Arline Hayes and attend the banquet
Since 1964, The Wauwatosa Distinguished Citizen Award Council has honored the people who have made significant voluntary contributions to community life in Wauwatosa to make this city a great place to live. Leaders in our school systems, fire and police services, civic, business, neighborhoods, community services, and historic preservation have been honored over the years for their dedication to making a difference in everyone’s life who lives in and around Wauwatosa.
The Wauwatosa Distinguished Citizen Award Council is pleased to announce Arline Hayes as Wauwatosa’s 2018 Distinguished Citizen of the year.
Meet Arline Hayes
A Wauwatosa resident for over 50 years, Arline and her husband Patrick Hayes raised their two children, Danny and Mary Eilleen in Wauwatosa where she has touched the lives of many with her contributions to the community. Arline was a founding member and first co-chair of Tosa Fest. With the purchase of the Kneeland-Walker House in 1987 by the Wauwatosa Historical Society, Arline became an active member and served several terms on the board. She was a founding member of Olde Hillcrest Neighborhood Association in 1994, was the second president, and was on the board for over 20 years. Arline was subsequently asked to serve on the executive committee of the Neighborhood Association Council (NAC).
Arline was also one of the founding members of the Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool (FOHPP) which was responsible for the building of the Tosa Pool, Landing Beer Garden, and Grand Hall. The lovely Grand Hall would not exist today if not for Arline’s efforts.
“Arline Hayes is the most positive, encouraging person anyone could hope to have on a board or committee or as a friend”, stated Julie Walker from the Neighborhood Association Council.
