What’s the value of my property?
City's assessment tool helps residents find information about properties
Did you know that you can use the property search tool to find assessments for a specific property within the City of Wauwatosa? This online tool is available 24/7. If you have questions after reviewing the property search, you can contact the assessor’s office by email or phone: (414) 479-8969.
The tool can be used to find information on:
- Assessments. When reading assessments, keep in mind that several factors determine the value of a property. A change of value in your property does not guarantee a change in value in your neighbor's property. (As an example, interior changes of a kitchen or bathroom can affect property value. A home can be similar to yours overall, but your home has a remodeled kitchen or bath. This will most likely have a higher value to reflect that difference.)
- Sales history. The property search tool has the ability to search for sales that have occurred. The site will display all sales activity. There will be sales that are listed as not valid sales and would not be used to set or defend assessed values.
- Land and structures details. This could include the number of rooms, acres, size of living area, year of construction, or basement features.
You can search by many fields, such as address, property type, sale price, and more.
2019 is a revaluation year, and this means that our Assessor's Office will complete a city-wide review of all property assessments. All property owners will receive a change of assessment letter in July 2019. Shortly after, our assessor’s office will be updating its property search database to reflect any changes that may have taken place.
