Shredding, medication drop off, sustainability vendors, and hazardous waste drop off all in one spot
Circle Saturday, September 7, 2019 in your calendar for all of your recycling and sustainability needs. There are a number of events happening simultaneously at City Hall (7725 W North Avenue) parking lot and inside the building:
Wauwatosa Crime Stoppers will be providing paper shredding from 8 am to 1 pm. Limit 3 boxes. Paper shredding helps prevent identity theft problems include using victims names and addresses as well as banking information and social security numbers. Documents like unwanted mail, old files, old bank statements and credit card bills, work orders and those containing personal information should be shredded prior to disposal.
Elite Energy will be collecting electronics from 8 am to 1 pm. Electronic items that will be accepted include 2-Way Radios, Ballasts, Calculators, Cell Phones, Circuit Boards, Computers, Computer & Video Games, Copiers, DVD/VCR/DVR Players, Fax Machines, Flat screens, Hard Drives, Keyboards & Mice, Pagers, Laptops, Portable Devices, Portable Electronics, Power Tools, Printers, Scanners, Servers, Stereos, Telephones, VHS Tapes, CDs and DVDs, Video Game Systems (no TVs or computer monitors). Now is the time to get rid of your old unused electronic devices and, more important, keep them out of a landfill.
MMSD will hold its annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection from 8 am to 2 pm. Items being accepted include: acetone, artist’s paints and media, antifreeze, automobile oil, battery acid, brake fluid, deck strippers (wood bleach, sealers and preservatives), driveway sealer, fluorescent light bulbs, latex and oil-based paint, stripper, household cleaners, garden products, pool chemicals and more. Unused or Expired Medications
The Tosa Health and Police Departments are accepting unused and expired medications from 8 am to 1 pm. Accepted items include pills & liquid medications and pet medications. (Inhalers, cosmetics and toiletries and medications from commercial entities will not be accepted). Note: Labels that may contain personal information on medication boxes/containers will not be removed at time of collection prior to disposal.
Dream Bikes will accept gently used bicycles, parts, accessories and donations from 8 am to 1 p.m. They refurbish used bicycles and return them to the community, providing work experience to young people, opening up future job opportunities and making a difference in their lives to make our community stronger. LED Lights and Other Energy-Efficiency Products for sale
Techniart will be hosting pop-up events at City Hall to provide discounted energy-efficient lighting and products on behalf of Focus on Energy. Visit their booth on Friday, September 6, 12 – 5 pm or Saturday, September 7, 8 am – 12 pm in the atrium on the first floor of City Hall.
They accept cash, cards, or checks.
