A Sample Wauwatosa Tax Bill

Four things to notice on this year's tax bill
Post Date:12/10/2019 11:00 AM

Wauwatosa property owners will receive their 2019 tax bill in the mail this week. You can also view your tax bill online.

Below is a sample tax bill. Here are four things to know about this year's bill:

  1. Notice there are five taxing jurisdictions (Milwaukee County, City of Wauwatosa, Wauwatosa School District, MATC, and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Sewer District). Your taxes support each of these entities, and you can see the specific amount going to each one.
  2. You can pay the full amount of your bill by January 31, 2020, or you can pay in interest-free installments (January 31, March 31, and May 31). There is no application process to pay through installments. You simply have to pay the amount indicated by each date. Read more about payment options online, in person, by mail, or through your bank.
  3. In 2019, we completed a revaluation. The average residential increase of property value was 17%. We cannot make changes for the 2019 tax bill related to your property value. However, our assessor's office is reviewing properties for the 2020 year. You can request a visit and review by an appraiser who make recommend no change, an increase, or decrease to your property value based on fair market value. Contact the Assessor's Office with questions related to your property value.
  4. The amount for the Wauwatosa School District referendum is listed at the bottom of your printed bill.
