Garbage/Recycling Collection Delays and City Building Hours
Collections are delayed one day on Christmas Day and New Years Day
Garbage and Recycling Delayed One Day
If we are scheduled to collect your garbage and recycling between December 25 - 27, 2019 and January 1 - 3, 2020, it will be delayed by one day. Friday collections will occur on Saturday. See your collection schedule.
Christmas Tree Collection
Public Works will pick up Christmas trees at the curb January 6 - 31. Trees must be unbagged and free from all decorations. No wired wreaths will be picked up.
Holiday Lights Recycling
Traditional holiday string lights cannot be placed in the curbside collection, so a group of Wauwatosa volunteers is organizing a special collection.
Bring your string lights to the collection boxes in the main corridor between the Library and City Hall. The lights should be placed in the collection box by themselves. (Please do not use plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or a device used to wind up lights when you drop them off.) This is available during the month of January.
City Building Hours
City Buildings, including the Library, will be closed on December 24, 25, 31, and January 1. This includes our Finance Department for tax collection. Emergency services are available 24/7.
Paying Property Taxes
You can pay property taxes in person, at the 24/7 drop off box, online, or through a bank or other 3rd party. Learn more about property tax payment options.
The Finance Department at City Hall is open Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm. The office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Please note that the Finance Department will be closed on December 24, 25, 31, and January 1.
