The individual remains at the hospital and has not returned to Luther Manor
On Saturday, March 21st, Wauwatosa Health Department received notification that a resident at Luther Manor tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). The individual tested positive after being transported to a local hospital. The individual remains at the hospital and has not returned to Luther Manor.
The Health Department is working closely with Luther Manor leadership to ensure all individuals who came in contact with the positive resident are notified, monitor for symptoms and self-quarantine when necessary. Every effort is being done to stop the spread of COVID-19 further.
“In order to keep their residents and staff safe, the leadership of Luther Manor have been extremely proactive, enacting stricter precautions and protocols for the past few weeks than the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends,” Laura Conklin, Wauwatosa Health Officer, said. “We applaud their efforts during this difficult time.”
Our health care system and first responders are faced with unprecedented demand for services. We as a community need to do whatever we can to assure those who need help most are able to receive it. Please stay home, do not go to work while sick and heed the Governor’s orders.
This a global pandemic, and we know the virus has spread throughout the country, the state of Wisconsin, and Milwaukee County. The CDC and Wauwatosa city websites are updated regularly with information on COVID-19.
