Wauwatosa is joining communities across the country in observing Week Without Driving from September 29 through October 5. The initiative encourages residents to explore alternatives to driving, such as walking, biking, and public transit.
As part of the week, the Wauwatosa Bike and Pedestrian Committee is hosting several events to help residents experience new ways of getting around:
Monday, September 29 – Freedom on Wheels
Attendees will learn how to navigate the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS), from planning routes to boarding the bus. The presentation includes a short bus ride so that participants can practice boarding, paying fare, requesting stops, and bus etiquette. Capacity limited to 30 participants.
Join us on September 29, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. We'll meet at the eastbound bus stop on North Avenue by the Wauwatosa Library.
Wednesday, October 1 – Walk to School Day at Wilson/STEM School
Students, families, and community members are invited to join the walking school bus at Wilson/STEM School. Participants will walk together to school along the route at 7:45 a.m.
The Bike and Pedestrian Committee encourages everyone to participate in these activities and try going without driving for the week. The events are meant to build confidence and promote healthier, more sustainable transportation choices in Wauwatosa.
