Poll Worker Information
We rely on poll workers to conduct open, accurate, and fair elections in Wauwatosa. We are always accepting applications for poll workers. However, selection and hiring will be conducted on as needed basis. When you're hired, you're appointed for a two-year term. We'll train you before each election, so you know the various procedures to follow. Please fill out an application and a member of the Clerk's Office will reach out.
Requirements:
- Be a qualified elector of Milwaukee County
- Be an adult U.S. Citizen
- Have resided in the election district for 10 days and is not otherwise disqualified from voting
- Have strong clerical skills and be able to work in a team setting
- Be physically able to stand and sit for long periods of time
- Not be a candidate for any office to be voted on at the election you're serving
High School Students
High school students can apply to be poll workers, too. There is a separate application process. Students can apply online here. Students must be:
- At least 16 years old
- Has at least a 3.0 grade point average (or has written approval of the principal of the school if they have less than a 3.0 grade point average)
- Has written approval from their parent or guardian
- Lives within the area of the polling place at which they serve
