Improvements Coming to Center Street

Center Street will soon receive construction for traffic pattern improvements. Following the construction, the driveway closest to Eisenhower Elementary School will be realigned with 116th Street, along with the additions of pedestrian crosswalks, sidewalks, median installations, and dedicated bike lanes on Center Street from 117th Street to 113th Street.

Project Update:

The City of Wauwatosa is working with the contractor to pause work on the Center Street project between 113th and 117th Streets by August 29, 2025. Over the next week, crews will focus on finishing any work and laying temporary pavement on the south side of Center Street. This plan, provided by the contractor, is intended to ensure that construction will not impact the start of the school year.

Progress on this project has been slower than anticipated due to contractor-related challenges. Pausing the work on Center Street provides the best outcome for the city, school families, and neighbors. The current work will wrap up at this logical stopping point, and the remaining improvements, including permanent traffic changes to Center Street, will be rebid and completed in 2026 with the appropriate contractor.
