Project Overview

Wisconsin Avenue will soon close for utility and street improvements from 72nd Street to the west of 68th Street. Additionally, 70th Street will close from Wisconsin Avenue to Bluemound Road. During the summer, the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and 68th Street is expected to be closed for construction. Construction is expected to start is the week of March 31, 2025

Phase 1 (IN PROGRESS): Wisconsin Avenue is expected to close from 72nd Street to west of 68th Street on Monday, March 31. Access to Wisconsin Avenue will be provided to local residents throughout this phase of construction. 70th Street from Wisconsin Avenue to Bluemound Road may also close for construction.

Phase 2 (SUMMER): The intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and 68th Street will close for construction in mid-June. Construction will also be on-going on 70th Street during this phase. While the intersection is closed, the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and 72nd Street is anticipated to be open to north and south traffic. Access to Wisconsin Avenue and 70th Street will be provided to local residents throughout this phase of construction. Roadway work will complete at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and 68th Street, and on 70th Street, by early September.

Phase 3 (EARLY SEPTEMBER): Final utility and roadway construction will continue on Wisconsin Avenue from from 72nd Street to west of 68th Street. Access to Wisconsin Avenue will be provided to local residents throughout this phase of construction.

Project completion: Weather permitting, we anticipate this project to be completed in October 2025.

Pedestrian Information and Suggested Detours

Due to the street closures, increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic on Bluemound Road and the surrounding areas may occur throughout the project. (Click the image to view larger).
