Each year the City of Wauwatosa receives assistance from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) in the form of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The primary objective of the CDBG program is the development of viable urban communities by providing opportunities for decent housing, a safe living environment, and expanded economic opportunities to, principally, low or moderate income persons.
CDBG Annual Application Process
If your organization is interested in receiving an allocation of community development block grant funds, you must submit a completed application to the Development Department. Complete applications are typically due in late August. Check back in late July for the posted forms.
Annual Action Plan & Performance Evaluation Reports
The city completes an annual action plan that identifies community needs and funding priorities in addition to annual performance evaluation report that describes program outcomes and accomplishments. A long-range consolidated plan is completed every 5 years.

Citizen Participation Plan
The Department of Housing and Urban Development requires municipalities receiving CBDG funds develop and follow a detailed plan which provides for and encourages citizen participation, emphasizing participation by persons of low/moderate income, blighted areas, and areas in which the city proposes to expend CDBG funds.
