What is a Block Party?
A Block Party in the City of Wauwatosa is a party for all residents of a block or neighborhood, typically held on a closed-off city street.
A permit is required when the Block Party will involve:
- Closing and exclusive use of a public street, alley, or public right of way.
- City ordinances and rules require public safety support by city employees.
- Services by certain city departments.
- Notifying Police Department of street closures, in case of emergency services that may be needed.
Block Party Permit Process:
- Download and complete the Block Party Permit.
- If you need barricades for your Block Party, have payment made payable to the City of Wauwatosa for the Barricade Fee ($35.00).
- Email your application to mweger@wauwatosa.net and make a payment (if applicable), at either the Wauwatosa Police Department or Wauwatosa City Clerk's Office or mailed to Wauwatosa Police Department, ATTN Mary Weger, 1700 N 116th Street, Wauwatosa, WI 53226. Barricade fees must be paid at time of application.

Things to Know:
- Note: Applications for Block Parties must be received three weeks prior to the Block Party date.
- Block Parties are exempt from an application fee.
- Hours of Operation: Block Parties can be open between the hours of 8:00 am and 10:00 pm.
